Music Resume

  • Born Dec. 15th, 1973 in Brunsvick (Braunschweig), Germany

  • Graduate bass player for Jazz and jazz-related music at University of Arts in Amsterdam, Netherlands (Conservatory Hilversum and Amsterdam) with David de Marez Oyens, Theo de Jong, Rob Langereis and others. Degree in 1998 with a special appreciation for composing and arranging.

  • While studying bass, I had a second main subject as music arranger / composer with Jurre Haanstra, doing postgraduate studies afterwards in these subjects. Graduated 2000 with my Jazzorchestra in the "Bimhuis" in Amsterdam. "Astonishing and beautiful colors of sound, a very musical and very promising arranger", it said on my certificate.

  • Among others, participated in the Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra, Göttingen Symphony Orchestra (guest soloist), hr-Allstar Big Band, State Youth Jazz Orchestra of Lower Saxony and many bands.

  • First price at "Winning Jazz", state price at "Cultural Youth", state laureate at "Jazzing Youth" in the category jazz soloists, "Official Award for outstanding Musicianship" from the IAJE in Atlanta.

  • Third price at federal composing competition of Hesse Broadcast (hr) with the hr-Big Band conducted by me. Wrote for the Euroring, a pool of european public radio broadcasting stations, and the Netherlands Metropole Orchestra performed my music conducted by Vince Mendoza. Since 1999, I was repeatedly invited to arrange and compose for the Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra.

  • In 2000, I received a grant for composition from the State of Lower Saxony, and in the same year the "Robert Lingnau Jazz Orchestra" was founded, having their first tour with a radio recording and broadcast.

  • Toured through the USA, Germany and abroad in many european countries, and made several CD recordings, both as a bass player and arranger / composer.

  • Recordings for the BBC and most of Germany's public radio stations.

  • Worked with or wrote for the BBC-Big Band, Berlin Youth Jazz Orchestra (BJJO), Berlin Jazz Orchestra, BuJazzO (Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra), Friedrichstadtpalast Berlin (largest revue theatre in Europe), hr-Big Band, State Youth Orchestra of Lower Saxony, Metropole Orchestra, Ack van Rooyen, Usedom Music Festival, Jiggs Whigham and many others.

  • Until December 2003 author and presenter of the program "Late Night - Jazz live" on rbb culture channel, since then presenting the Berlin Jazz Festival for the ARD-radio network.

  • 2006 artistic conductor of the Berlin Youth Jazz Orchestra.
